First Restoration Restores Local Apartments
- Project Type: Fire Damage
- Building Type: Residential/Apartment Complex
- Contact: First Restoration Services
- Date of Loss: October 2014 - May 2015
On October 29, 2014, First Restoration was contacted by their local fire department to inspect an apartment building that had caught fire overnight. The fire, believed to have been lit by a cigarette in the leaves of a front porch, caused the majority of the center of the complex to be engulfed in flames.
Immediately, First Restoration was onsite to inspect the damage and get the project rolling. The scope of loss included 14 units, four of which were completely destroyed and six which were partially damaged from the smoke and debris. The fire damage restoration company determined that much water and fire restoration work was needed.
Using their own trailer-mounted generators, desiccant dehumidifiers and refrigerant dehumidifiers, First Restoration extracted the water and then used a team of 15 employees to dry out the structure. Since the building wasn't entirely destroyed, First Restoration was careful to not disturb the remaining residents with the drying and construction. Additionally, the fire damage restoration service removed any remaining smoke smells from the occupied units using deodorization techniques and procedures.
A lot of work and time went into this project to get the apartments' residents back to normal living conditions.
"From the beginning when the deconstruction happens, you really don't have any idea of what to expect, but the self-confidence and assurance from the folks at First Restoration made it feel very comfortable. It was extremely helpful that First Restoration was there onsite. The tenants could see them. It was emotionally stabilizing and refreshing to understand the fact that we could turn this charred ruin into a clean building again."Joel Wiens, Property Manager for Southwood Apartments
