December 4, 2013 – DKI, North America’s largest disaster restoration contracting organization, today announced that DKI Franchise, Bay Area DKI of Oldsmar, FL is supporting the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program by donating the use of box trucks and drivers to assist in Letter Carriers’ Day.
For the past ten years, Bay Area DKI has supported Toys for Tots by donating box trucks and drivers to assist in Toys for Tots Letter Carriers’ Day.
Letter Carriers’ day is an annual event sponsored by the United States Postal Service where residents in Hillsborough County, Florida are encouraged to leave new toys in or by their mailboxes for letter carriers to take them back to the post office. The toys are then transported to the Toys for Tots warehouse.
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens
“We are honored to participate in such an event. Letter Carriers’ Day is a big part of the Toys for Tots Hillsborough County initiative. We are very proud to support such a worthy cause. It is very important for us each to do our part and give back to our communities,” said Mark Spicola, Owner of Bay Area DKI.
For those who are interested in participating, Letter Carriers’ Toys for Tots Day is December 7, 2013. Donations will be accepted on this day when local postal carriers will gather up all the donations at residential mailboxes. Bay Area DKI will then help transport some of the donations to the Toys for Tots warehouse for distribution. All donations must be new, unwrapped toys; toy weapons or stuffed animals cannot be accepted.
