Craig Kersemeier of K-tech Kleening Honored for Jefferson Award

Craig_-_Jefferson_AwardNovember 29, 2016 – K-tech Kleening Systems, a member company of DKI, North America’s largest disaster restoration contracting organization, is excited to announce President Craig Kersemeier was one of the local Jefferson Award winners honored at the Jefferson Street Inn banquet on Thursday, November 17 in Wausau, WI.

The Jefferson Award is a prestigious national recognition to honor achievements and contributions through public and community service throughout America. Its recipients are ordinary people who do extraordinary things without expectation of recognition or reward.

Kersemeier won the Jefferson Award on the local level in March 2016 for his efforts through K-tech Charities, which was established in 2006 to give back to the communities in which they serve. He was also chosen to represent North Central Wisconsin in the national awards competition in Washington, D.C.

Kersemeier commented on being an ordinary individual doing extraordinary things. “Don’t ever sell yourself short by saying, ‘I am just one person; I can’t make that big of a difference.’ You’re wrong.”

Since its inception, K-tech Charities has distributed over $800,000 in financial aid and countless hours of volunteer services from employees and business partners, including their fundraisers supporting breast cancer patients: Pink Ribbon Open and Cleaning for a Reason.

In addition, each year, the group collects and purchases food items for local underserved families during the holidays. In 2015, K-tech Charities and several volunteers distributed over 400 food baskets to prequalified local families in need. To date, this annual volunteer project has resulted in the collection and distribution of eight to ten tons of food annually to Central Wisconsin families.

Hudson Valley DKI Expands to Provide Disaster Recovery Services to Orange County

November 8, 2016 – Hudson Valley DKI, a member company of DKI, North America’s largest disaster restoration contracting organization, today announced on October 26, 2016 they received a Notice of Intent to award a contract for the County of Orange.

As the result of a Request for Proposal for Disaster Recovery Services, Hudson Valley was accepted to provide post-incident services to residential and commercial structures within Orange County. These services will include board up and clean up due to flooding, mold, asbestos, lead and other causes.

“We’re honored to be accepted to expand our services and are excited to assist with the needs of those in the Orange area. This is a great opportunity for us to grow and continue offering superior quality services to a new community of customers,” said Hudson Valley DKI Owner Angelo Ferrante.

Hudson Valley and the County of Orange will start the contract process shortly.

DKI Sponsors a Multi-Church Baptist Revival & Cookout for Lumberton

2A3A8660 (1)October 26, 2016 – DKI, North America’s largest disaster restoration contracting organization, successfully sponsored “Revival,” a Baptist service and cookout, on Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Lumberton, NC at First Baptist Church (FBC).

FBC is one of the properties DKI has been repairing, following the damages from Hurricane Matthew. DKI, along with several of its member companies including: Skyline DKI, Alliance Disaster Kleenup, Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration, Slays Restoration, and Showcase Restoration cleaned up and prepared the parking lot to hold the service and cookout on the church grounds for the public.

Approximately 400 people attended from 39 local Baptist churches for a long-awaited service, since the area had not been able to hold services for weeks due to damage from the hurricane.

Following the service, everyone was invited to gather together for a free barbeque lunch, served by DKI members.

The event also included a bounce house and inflatable fire truck slide for the community children.

DKI Commercial Solutions National Business Development Director Bryn Lopes remarked, “We’re just trying to help the community in all different ways, to be able to cook and revitalize what was lost. Without our members it wouldn’t be possible, so together we make a good team.”

JCR Hosts Continuing Education Course on Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration

(JCR) successfully hosted over 230 industry professionals from the insurance and property management sectors from across the Chicagoland area for seminars on fire and smoke damage. Throughout the week, the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance, JCR’s chosen charity, collected over $3,000. These donations came from onsite donations from attendees and 100 percent of the registration fees collected by JCR.

The executive director of IFSA, Phil Zaleski, was on hand throughout the week to speak of IFSA’s dedication to fire safety and burn prevention through public education, and to share that raised donations would support IFSA’s Camp “I Am Me.” Camp “I Am Me” is a week-long camp for children and teenagers who have experienced injuries from burns. JCR presented, for the second consecutive year, an Illinois Department of Insurance approved CE course entitled Smoke on the Water. The one-day course explained the processes involved in fire damage mitigation and restoration. It also illustrated how insurance companies, property management professionals and restoration professionals can work together to provide property owners with rapid, responsive, technically accurate procedures for loss mitigation on fire damage claims. By the end of the day, through class participation and hands-on demonstrations, the attendees learned that advanced techniques and technologies save downtime and money throughout the fire damage claims process. Classroom discussions also focused on the public health and safety issues associated with fire restoration situations.
