Post-Storm Damage Assessment
After a storm has rolled through the area, your priority is getting your home or business back to the way it was. Storm damage restoration begins with an assessment. First, no matter how small the storm is, take a look at the outside of your property and catalog the results. You want to be sure you know how the storm has impacted your property so that you can reach out for help. It’s also a good idea to document the damage in a notebook or with a camera.
Take a walk around your property and look for signs of damage to the:
Building
- Roof — Are there shingles missing, holes appearing, metal seams splitting, or any leaks to the inside of the building?
- Exterior Walls — Are there holes or cracks? Is the siding intact? Is the brickwork damaged? Remember to check your rain gutters and downspouts too.
Yard or Grounds
- Trees — This can be the biggest challenge after a storm. Large trees can come crashing down and cause severe damage, especially if they fall on a building, vehicle, or power line.
- Driveways & Sidewalks — Are there cracks or holes in the concrete or asphalt as a result of the storm?
Another priority in the aftermath of a storm is to reach out to a reliable company that does storm damage restoration. This is the next step in returning your home or business building to the condition it was in before the storm.
