(OXNARD, Calif., August 28, 2018) – ASR Property Restoration, a member company of DKI, North America’s largest disaster restoration contracting organization, proudly received the 2018 Spirit of Small Business Award for Ventura County at the Pacific Coast Business Times’ awards luncheon in Santa Barbara on August 23, 2018. The Spirit of Small Business Awards were founded by The Business Times and the Los Angeles District Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration to recognize the accomplishments of small businesses in the Tri-Counties. This year’s theme or the 16th annual awards was “Rising to the Challenge: Recognizing the Resilience, Strength and Perseverance of our Communities.” All winners were small businesses that overcame the  emands, resulting from the Thomas Fire and Montecito mudslides. ASR is a property restoration company with 10 years’ experience servicing Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Last year, following the December wildfires in Southern California, ASR spent 60 to 70 hours a week providing clean-up and restoration services to its community residents and school districts. Between the Santa Paula and Ojai School Districts, the team, along with help from their DKI network and almost 50 additional hires, worked together to restore 13 schools and several residences. “Cleaning hose schools in two districts was our biggest challenge. Once secured, we had a strict time frame…three weeks during an extended Christmas break to get them all clean. But, we finished two days ahead of schedule,” said Bill Hatch, director of operations for ASR. “We learned a great deal and will be even more prepared if anything like this ever happens again, as we felt we could have andled even more work if we knew then what we know now.” All Spirit of Small Business winners were honored at the awards luncheon on Thursday, August 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Biltmore – Coral Casino in Santa Barbara. “Our team did a phenomenal job, and we are very honored to have won Small Business of the Year for Ventura County,” said Hatch.
