DKI CIO of IT Patrick Phillips Speaks About Why We Underutilize Human Potential

Patrick Phillips, CIO of DKI Services

October 1, 2014 –

(ELK GROVE, Ill., Oct. 1, 2014) – Patrick Phillips, CIO of DKI, North America’s largest disaster restoration organization, spoke today at the Northeast Lean Institute in Springfield Mass. about the greatest waste of corporations – underutilizing people’s talents, skills and knowledge.

Phillips stressed the importance of applying LEAN (Lead, Enable and Nurture) principles within an organization to drive creativity, innovation and reduce the effect on a business’ economical costs.

He argued, “Turf wars, politics, red tape, budget nepotism, envy, ego, greed, cronyism, short-term thinking, and rapid changes [in strategic direction for no apparent reason] must be removed from the culture and replaced with the fuel, the tools, the resources, and the attitudes that drive the innovative process.”

With 16 years experience in LEAN principle research, Phillips has built a framework of how these principles can enable IT to stay relevant throughout the continued evolution of cultures of innovation.

He presented this structure at the conference and delved into how organizations can create a growing awareness around knowledge management through mutual respect by representing a purpose, process and people.

Phillips reasoned that “With a LEAN perspective in mind of purpose, process and people, what remains is to put them together in a creative combination.”
